I don't know what the story line is, because there weren't any real docs with this (if you're going to write software, you might as well take the time to write down a bit of plot), so I'll hope I'm close to what it's really about. Judging by the skulls everywhere and demonic priests trying to kill you I'm assuming your somewhere bad. You start off with a gun and some bullets, so go out there and kick some evil butt. Alright, the trees and the dark sky look erie, (The graphics are pretty good, but lacking anything special to make them stand out). You wander around the wilderness until you finally find some ammo and a small pistol, so you trot inside looking for somthing to kill (Note that some stuff moves, like candles, and some of the walls scroll, it usually means the end of the level). The first thing you'll encounter is a giant green eye, if you shoot it it'll disintigrate and leave a pile of red green goo on the floor. You'll have to collect the right keys to fit the right color-coded doors, so off you go to find em, killing whatever lays in your path. While playing this game I wondered, 'Why is there no sfx?', I don't know why. I could hear the intro music, maybe there isn't and sound effects? (Write to amiga@istar.ca if you can hear anything while playing this game).
The scrolling in this game is speedy and smooth on a 030 and 040, it's nice to not have any chunky movments or any jerky scrolling. It's just that the graphics aren't breathtaking, they're just adequate. This really hurts the game since they've gotten just a nice thing going here. The characters in the game are great, it's got a Hexen type atmosphere, mostly because of the dark priests on the end level and a few crucified people here and there. (Level 2 is my favorite because you're in a cemetary with corpes coming at you from all over). Testament is a lot of fun, they've got the mood set right and the story and feeling is great. I wish I could hear the sounds (if there is any) so I could rate it properly.
